Objective To observe the distribution of Gln27Glu polymorphism ofβ2-adrenergic receptor gene (β2-AR) and the relationship between the Gln27Glu polymorphism ofβ2-adrenoceptor gene and left atrioventricular reconstruction in Kazaks and Han populations with essential hypertension (EH) of Xinjiang. Methods 280 patients with EH, including 141 cases of Han and 139 Kazaks population, 436 cases of normotensives, including 223 cases of Han nationality and 213 cases of Kazaks population. All subjects were examined by echocardiogaphy. The dimension of left atrial (LAD), left ventricular mass (LVM) and left ventricular mass index (LVMI) were measured respectively. Samples of peripheral blood were collected from all recruited subjects.β2-AR genetypes were identified by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) in all subjects. Result①There was no difference in left atrial dimension (LAD), left ventricular mass (LVM) and left ventricular mass index(LVMI) between Kazaks and Han ethnic.②The Gln27Glu polymorphism ofβ2-adrenergic receptor gene was only three variants, which is GlnGln, GlnGlu, GluGlu, there was significant difference in frequencies for genotype and allele in Kazaks and Han. GlnGln genetype and Gln27 allele in Han population were higher than in Kazaks.③There was no differences in the frequencies for genotype and allele among normotensives, left ventricular normal configuration and left ventricular reconstruction.④We compared clinical features of the patients with the genotype of GlnGln and LVR of hypertension in a sample of Kazaks and Han, and found that there were no different in LAD, LVMI within the two groups. Conclusion There were ethnic differences in the distribution of Gln27Glu polymorphism ofβ2-adrenergic receptor gene between Kazaks and Han in Xinijiang. No relationship was found between the Gln27Glu polymorphism ofβ2-adrenergic receptor gene and left atrioventricular reconstruction of the patients with EH in Kazaks and Han population of Xinjiang in China.
