Objective:To investigate the expression of Syndecan-1 and E-cadherin in endometrial carcinoma tissue and to explore its correlation with clinical behavior and pathological characters,as to investigate the relationship between both Syndecan-1 and E-cadherin and the development, metastasis of endometrial cancer. Methods:A total of 51 specimens of endometrial carcinoma were evaluated by immunohistochemical technique to detect E-cadherin and syndecan-1.Twenty normal endometria and twenty eight atypical hyperplasia endometria were used for control.Results:1.The strongly positive expression rate of Syndecan-1 in normal endometrium and atypical hyperplasia endometrium and endometrial carcinoma was 5.00%,25.00%,56.86%respectively.The rate of endometrial carcinoma was obviously higher. There was significant difference among normal endometrium and atypical hyperplasia endometrium and endometrial carcinoma(P<0.05).In endometrial carcinoma,no relations was found between Syndecan-1 and age, menelipsis, histological type and lymphnode matastasis(P>0.05).The strongly positive expression rate of Syndecan-1 was significant difference between tumor grade, mymetria invasion, and surgical stage(P<0.05).2.The strongly positive expression rate of E-cadherin in normal endometrium and atypical hyperplasia endometrium and endometrial carcinoma was 80.00%,64.29%,37.24%respectively.The rate of endometrial carcinoma was obviously lower. There was significant difference among normal endometrium and atypical hyperplasia endometrium and endometrial carcinoma (P<0.05).In endometrial carcinoma,no relations was found between E-cadherin and age, menelipsis, histological type and tumor grade(P>0.05).The low expression rate of E-cadherin was significant difference between mymetria invasion, surgical stage and lymphnode matastasis(P<0.05).3.The expression of Syndecan-1 and E-cadherin in endometrial carcinoma existed significant correlation(Rs=-0.196,P<0.05).Conclusions:1.The strongly positive expression rate of Syndecan-1 in endometrial carcinoma was obviously higher than that in normal endometrium. The expression rate of E-cad in endometrial carcinoma was lower than that in atypical hyperplasia endometrium and normal endometrium.Syndecan-1 and E-cadherin was correlated with occurrence of endometrial carcinoma.2.In endometrial carcinoma, the expression of Syndecan-1 and E-cadherin are correlated with invasion and metastasis, which may be two of markers of more malignant and poor prognosis.3.Investigating both expression conditions may help to understand and evaluate the maligant condition of endometrial carcinoma.
