Objectives: Endometrial carcinoma is one of the commonest malignant tumors in female reproductive tract and leads a tendency of gradual increasing. The study of oncogenesis and metastasis of endometrial carcinoma is still an important issue to be resolved. During recent years, many studies about E-cadherin and beta-catenin indicated that the oncogenesis and metastasis of many kinds of tumors such as colon tumor, melanin neoplasm, liver tumor, ovarian tumor and prostate tumor is related to E-cadherin and beta-catenin. But the relation between E-cadherin and beta-catenin and endometrial carcinoma is seldom reported. So E-cadherin and beta-catenin were detected using immunohistochemical technology in this study. Methods: A total of 43 specimens of endometrial carcinoma were evaluated by immunohistologically staining to detdect E-cadherin and beta-catenin. Thirty normal endometria and twenty six atypital hyperplasia endometria were used for control. Results: The aberrant expression of E-cadherin and beta-catenin in endometrial carcinoma was obviously higher than that in normal endometrium and atypical proliferation endometrium (P<0.05). Expression of E-cadherin was positively correlated with tumor grade, histological type, mymetrial invasion, surgical stage and lymphnode matastasis(P<0.05). Expression of beta-catenin was significantly correlated with tumor grade, surgical stage and lymphnode matastasis (P<0.05).Conclusions: (1)The aberrant expression of E-cadherin and beta-catenin in endometrial carcinoma was obviously higher than that in normal endometrium and atypical proliferation endometrium. E-cadherin and beta-catenin was correlated with occurrence of endometrial carcinoma (2) Expression of E-cadherin was positively correlated with tumor grade, histological type, mymetrial invasion, surgical stage and lymphnode matastasis. It indicated that aberrant expression of E-cadherin was correlated...
