Study objectives: To observe the effect of xue-bi-jing injection on ischemia-reperfusion injury of myocardium of rabbits. Methods: 40 rabbits weighting 2 to 3 kg were divided randomly into five groups, each with eight rabbits. Sham-operated group (A), ischemia-reperfusion model group (B), the group of giving xue-bi-jing injection the day before operation (C), the group of giving xue-bi-jing injection two days continuously before operation (D),the group of giving xue-bi-jing injection five days continuously before operation (E);do the operation of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion, record ECG and cardiac hemodynamic indicators at 15 min before exclusion or ligation, reperfusion 1h, 2h, 4h. And above each time point, taking 1.5 ml of blood from left ventricle to detect cardiac troponin I (cTn-I), creatine kinase (CK); collecting serum to detect malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD); collecting myocardial tissue after operation to observe its structure and inflammatory reaction by HE stain. Results: two rabbits of group B had ventricular arrhythmia at 13 min and 18 min after reperfusion, then recovered with normal cardiac rhythm after injecting lidocaine. All test animals entered analysis of the results.cTn-I, CK, MDA of experimental group were significantly lower than model group (P <0.05), SOD were higher than model group (P <0.05); ST elevation was the extent of the downward trend. Damage of tissue's structure and inflammatory reaction are lighter than model group. Conclusion: xue-bi-jing injection can improve regional myocardial blood circulation, protect endothelial cells and reduce myocardial enzyme's released, at the same time it can reduce the MDA, enhance the activity of SOD. So it has a effect of protection on rabbit myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury and a preferable treatment effect for preoperative continuous medication.
