Purpose:To study the expression of Angiopoietin-2(Ang-2) and VEGF in colon carcinoma, and the relationship among Ang-2 and VEGF and microvessel density(MVD).In order to evaluate the roles of Ang-2 and VEGF in angiogenesis of colon carcinoma. Methods:The expression of Ang-2 and VEGF in colon carcinoma were determined by immunohistochemistry staining, and the MVD of tumor was evaluated through immunohistochemistry staining of CD34.Results:1.The positive rate of Ang-2 was significantly higher in colon cancer than in mormal tissues, and its expression had no significant relationships with the patient'age, gender, ,but had intense relationships with or lymphatic, grades and dukes stages of the tumor.2. The positive rate of VEGF was significantly higher in colon cancer than in mormal tissues, and its expression had no significant relationships with the patient'age, gender, but had intense relationships with or lymphatic, grades and dukes stages of the tumor.3.The MVD was higher when Ang-2 expressed positive than negative. The MVD was higher when VEGF expressed positive than negative. The MVD was obviously up-regulated when Ang-2 and VEGF simultaneously expressed positive.Conclusion:Ang-2 and VEGF plays a very important role in the process of tumor angiogenesis.Expression of Ang-2 and VEGF simultaneously could induce angiogenesis of colon cancer, and had obviously relationship with the progression of colon carcinoma.
