Objective: It is to study the relationship between TCM syndrome-type of Hp-associated gastritis dampness-heat in spleen and stomach, deficiency in spleen and stomach and Helicobacter pylori (Hp). Explore the advantage and feasibility in combination with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and western medicine. Methods: 90 patients were diagnosed Hp-associated gastritis (HAG) by the syndromes and 14C -Urea Breath Test. According to the differentiation of syndromes, these patients were divided into five TCM syndrome-types. We chose dampness-heat in spleen and stomach type, deficiency in spleen and stomach type. these patients were divided into NO.1 treatment group (dampness-heat in spleen and stomach type),NO.2 treatment group (deficiency in spleen and stomach type) and control group randomly. There were thirty patients in each group. All patients took Bismuth Potassium Citrate Tablets,Tinidazole Tablets,Clarithromycin Tablets for a week. On the base of the therapies, two treatment groups were treated with San Ren decoction or Si Jun Zi decoction, every day a dose, all for two weeks. After therapy, about 30-60 days, we would have these patients taken 14C -Urea Breath Test, we would compare the clinical effect between all groups in the term of the above content. Results: At the end of the therapy, compared with the control group, the Hp level of the treatment groups were much significantly lower(P<0.05). Compared with the control group, symptom scores of the treatment groups were much significantly lower(P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the effective rates of the treatment groups were significantly highe(rP<0.05). The Hp-eradicating rate of NO.1 treatment group was 93.33%, and that of NO.2 treatment group was 90.00% ,while that of the control group was 86.67%, compared with that of the control group, that of NO.1 treatment group was much significantly higher (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, drug side effects of the treatment groups were much significantly fewer(P<0.05).Conclusion: This clinical study suggests that Chinese medicine may play an important role in alleviating the symptoms, healing chronic gastritis up and killing Hp up. And reducted drug side effects.
