Objective To investigate the expression of IL-8,MMP-9 and CD34 in patients with invasive and non-invasive pituitary adenomas,and to evaluate the relationship between the expression of IL-8,MMP-9,CD34 and the invasion of pituitary adenomas,and to analyze the correlation between IL-8,MMP-9 and MVD in invasive pituitary adenomas.Methods The expression of IL-8,MMP-9 and CD34 was examined by immunohistochemical staining and MVD signed by CD34 was counted at the same time. Analyze the differences of the expression of IL-8,MMP-9 and CD34 between the invasive and non-invasive pituitary adenomas, and the correlation between IL-8,MMP-9 and MVD in invasive pituitary adenomas by the statistical method.Results(1) The intense and total positive expression rates of IL-8 in invasive pituitary adenomas group are significantly higher than those in non-invasive pituitary adenomas group [(p=0.000)and(p=0.011)]. (As shown in table 1)(2) The intense and total positive expression rates of MMP-9 in invasive pituitary adenomas group are significantly higher than those in non-invasive pituitary adenomas group [(p=0.000)and(p=0.003)]. (As shown in table 2)(3) There is significant difference in MVD between invasive pituitary adenomas group(44.12±8.12) and non-invasive adenomas group(30.32±7.57) (p=0.000). (As shown in table 3)(4) There is positive correlation between IL-8,MMP-9 expression and MVD in invasive pituitary adenomas group(p=0.000). (As shown in table 4,5) (5) There is positive correlation between IL-8 expression and MMP-9 expression in invasive pituitary adenomas group(p=0.000). (As shown in table 6)Conclusions(1) Compared with the non-invasive pituitary adenomas group,IL-8 and MMP-9 are high expressed in invasive pituitary adenomas group,which suggests the invasion of pituitary adenomas is correlated with the expression level of IL-8 and MMP-9.(2) Compared with the non-invasive pituitary adenomas group,MVD is higher in invasive pituitary adenomas group,which suggests the invasion of pituitary adenomas is correlated with the angiogenesis.(3) There is positive correlation between IL-8,MMP-9 expression and MVD, which suggest IL-8 and MMP-9 can facilitate pituitary adenomas growth and invasion by accelerating angiogenesis.(4) There is positive correlation between the expression of IL-8 and MMP-9. There is a certain correlation between IL-8 and MMP-9, which suggests IL-8 may accelerate the creation of MMP-9.(5) IL-8 and MMP-9 play an important role in invasion of pituitary adenomas.The expressions of IL-8,MMP-9 and CD34 can be potential invasive and prognostic markers of pituitary adenomas.The inhibitors of IL-8 and MMP-9 may be a new tactic to treat the patients with invasive pituitary adenomas.
