Objective To investigate the effects of ulinastatin combined with telramethylpyrazine (TMP) on oxygen free radical in rats with acute pancreatitis(AP).Methods Seventy-five SD rats were divided into sham-operated group, AP group, Ulinastatin-treated group, TMP-treated group and Ulinastatin combination with TMP group, each consisting of fifteen. Rat model of AP were made by retrogression injection of sodium taurocholate though pancreas biliferous ducts. Serum superoxide dismutase(SOD) and Malondialdegyde(MDA) level changes of each experimental group was observed . Twenty minutes after rat models of AP were established, the models were interfered by Ulinastatin-treated group, TMP-treated group and Ulinastatin combined with TMP respectively. Serum level of SOD and MDA of the experimental rats were detected at the time of postoperative 3h, 6h, 12h. The data were analyzed with SPSS 13.0 to compare oxygen free radicals when using ulinastatin, Ligustrazine alone and in combination on AP rats.Resultsâ‘ Compared with the sham-operated group, the serum SOD levels of AP group significantly lower (P <0.05) and the MDA levels were elevated obviously (P <0.05).â‘¡Compared with the AP group , Ulinastatin-treated group, TMP-treated group and Ulinastatin combination with TMP group serum SOD levels increased significantly (P <0.05).MDA levels were decreased (P <0.05).â‘¢Ulinastatin combination with TMP group showed a higher serum SOD levels than Ulinastatin-treated group or TMP-treated group(P <0.05) and a lower MDA levels.Conclusions Ulinastatin combination with TMP has a therapeutic effect on AP by increasing protective factor SOD and decreasing MDA injury factor. Ulinastatin combined with TMP shows a very significant difference from using alone for it can effectively enhance the oxygen free radical scavenging capacity and reduce damage of pancreatic tissue .Ulinastatin had synergic function with TMP and they are more effective than use alone.
