Studying The Importance Of Using CA153 And CEA Together With P185 In Determining Breast Cancer

Objective To investigate the relationship between P185 in carcinoma issue,and carbohydrate antigen 15-3(CA153) and carcino-embryonic antigen(CEA) in serum in determining breast cancer.Methods By measuring p185,and serum levels of CA153 and CEA through immunohistochemical analysis and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in 110 patients with breast cancer from June 2005 to May 2007,we examine the correlation between the expression of p185 and serum levels of CA153 and CEA and their clinical characteristics.P185 characterized as -～+ was assigned low expression,and P185 characterized as ++～+++ was assigned high expression.Results The level of serum CA153 was significantly higher in patients before operation than those after operation (P＜0.01);The level of serum CA153 was significantly higher in patients with clinical stagesⅢandⅣthan those with clinical stagesⅠandⅡ(P＜0.05);The level of serum CA153 was significantly higher in patients with lymph node metastasis than those without(P＜0.01);There was no significant difference in the level of serum CA153 between young patients with old patients(P＞0.1).There was no significant difference in the level of serum CEA between patients before operation with those after operation (P＞0.05);There was also no significant difference in the level of serum CEA in patients with different clinical stages(P＞0.1);The level of serum CEA was significantly higher in patients with lymph node metastasis than those without(P＜0.01);There was no significant difference in the level of serum CEA between young patients with old patients (P＞0.1).The ratio of high expression of p185 was significantly higher in patients with lymph node metastasis than those without(P＜0.01).There was no significant difference in the ratio of high expression of p185 between young patients with old patients(P＞0.1). The level of serum CA153 was higher in patients with high expression of p185 than those with low expression of p185(P＜0.05).The level of serum CEA was also higher in patients with high expression of p185 than those with low expression of p185(P＜0.05). Conclusion The levels of serum CA153 and CEA and the ratio of high expression of p185 were significantly higher in patients with lymph node metastasis than those without The levels of serum CA153 and CEA were higher in patients with high expression of p185 than those with low expression of p185.That indicated serum CA153 and CEA and p185 were correlative indexes to predict bad prognosis.There is no obvious relationship with age.The treatment may be effective,if we choose medicament that is sensitive to the patients with high expression of p185.The level of serum CA153 was significantly higher in patients before operation than those after operation,but the level of serum CEA was not.That indicated serum CA153 can be used for follow-up.The combined measurement of CA153 and CEA together with P185 can be used for prediction of prognosis and can also help to guide the adjunctive therapy.
