Study On The Idea Of "Integration Of Traditional Chinese Medicine And Western Medicine"

The medical thought from integration of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western medicine to combination of the two has gone through a hundred years. In this process, there are gains and lessons, and the ending failure of integration of TCM and Western medicine directly stimulates the birth of combinational mode of them, although it has some shortcomings. Chinese medicine has been experiencing quite a few difficulties and conflicts in the combining process. Especially in the recent years, He zuoxiu, Zhang gongyao clamor that TCM is not scientific, and advocate the abolition of it. All these speech stirred up great controversy in Chinese medicine, many scholars and students of Chinese medicine have been in wide-ranging discussion on the development of TCM, and this issue arises again as a century before in front of Chinese medicine practitioners and scholars which waits for a solution. In addition, the status of TCM institution in the overall Chinese medical institution, as well as the competitiveness of TCM graduates in the job competition are two negative factors which we could not ignore. As to the development of TCM, and its prosperity abroad, what kind of developing mode would be the most suitable one?This paper will discuss the question mentioned above, using the related literature, combining thinking method of history and philosophy. With describing the social and cultural background in which the modern integration idea occurred, the paper selects four doctors of the most representative as tang, zhang, yun and lu, analyzing and objectively evaluating their achievement in the practicing process of integration idea, as well as the shallow and simple thoughts. Through these, we can summarize the status and the role of the integration idea in the developing process of TCM, and expect to explore some inspirations and new thoughts on the revitalization of TCM.The content of this paper consists of three parts: firstly, the social and cultural background of the integration of TCM and Western medicine in the modern ages; secondly, the founding ways of the idea and the achievement of famous medical representatives in this aspect; thirdly, the appraisal and the role of the modern development in the integration of TCM and Western medicine in the medicine developing history.The main discussion in the first part: a simple overview on the social and cultural background in which the integration occurred in modern history; analysis on the root causes, development profile and influencing factors of the integration idea in china.The main discussion in the second part: a simple overview on the evolvement of integration of TCM and Western medicine; by choosing four representative doctors on the basis, analysis on their technical opinion, blend ways and the achievements, as well as their crudely short points.The main discussion in the third part: on the basis of the first and second part, analysis on the reason of ending failure from angles of epistemology and methodology; objective evaluation, positive affirmation for its outstanding contribution in the development history of Chinese medicine; analysis on the mistakes and errors at the same time.
