Background:At home and abroad a number of studies have been reported that the incidence of adverse emotion in patients with functional diseases of digestive system was significantly higher than normal population [1], however, psychological problems in patients with chronic organic diseases of digestive system is also very serious. A finding[2] about a certain general hospital shows that the patients of medical department accompanying depression and anxiety are 41.5% and 34.78% in 1010 outpatients, and patients accompanying depression and anxiety are 39.64% and 35.11% in 1002 inpatients. In this study, through a survey of anxiety and depression to the patients diagnosed as digestive diseases, we aim to understanding the psychological state of patients with diseases of digestive system, and give psychological interventions to the patients with anxiety or depression, in order to provide a theoretical basis for enhancing the therapeutic efficacy of somatic diseases.Objective: To analyze the mental status of patients with diseases of digestive system, through the investigations of patients with diseases of digestive system. Approaching the effect of psychological intervention.Methods: Making the unified questionnaires, the contents of questionnaire include age, gender, occupation, academic career, marriage state, character; economy state, family history, course of disease, diagnose of disease, history of past illness(body and mind) and so on. With the guidance of professional staff of Department of Mental Health, the survey was conducted by a questionnaire among the 109 patients who were diagnosed as digestive diseases. To ensure validity and accuratissime, the purpose and sense of investigation is explained by investigator, Moreover, guiding the instructions and indigestibility statement in detail. Hamilton anxiety scale[3(]HAMA),Hamilton depressive scale[4(]HAMD)were used in the survey. And 39 healthy volunteers were chosen as controls. The data of the questionnaire were compared. We gave psychological intervention to the patients with anxiety or depression, and gave marks to the patients using HAMA and HAMD after three weeks again.Results: 1. 39 patients with liver cirrhosis, 35 patients with peptic ulcer and 35 patients with colitis gravis were enrolled. The incidences of anxiety, depression and anxiety complicating depression were: 28.2%, 38.5%, 28.2% in patients with liver cirrhosis, 34.3%, 31.4%, 25.7% in patients with peptic ulcer, 28.6%, 25.7%, 20.0% in patients with colitis gravis, significantly higher than in controls (7.7%, 7.7%, 2.6%). 2. Compared with patients with a shorter course of disease, the patients with a longer course show a significantly higher HAMD. 3. The incidences of depression were significantly higher in patients with complication(P<0.05). 4. The score of anxiety, depression of patients with liver cirrhosis,peptic ulcer and colitis gravis after intervention is lower than that before intervention after three weeks (P<0.05).Conclusions: The incidences of anxiety, depression in patients with liver cirrhosis, peptic ulcer and colitis gravis are higher than that in health subjects. And emotional disorder is influenced by course of disease. The incidences of depression of patients with liver cirrhosis are influenced by complication. Mental intervention can relieve anxiety and depression of patients with digestive diseases, and is good for treatment and recovery.
