Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of Q-switch Nd:YAG laser therapy for cases with Nevus of Ota and its influencing factors. Methods:Removing the cases with any other treatment,113 patients with nevus of Ota were diagnosed and able to fully compatible with the treatment by Q-switched Nd:YAG Laser with the wavelength of 1064nm since February 2006 to March 2009 in our hospital,97 cases of female, male 16 cases. The energy density range were chosen between 4~12J/cm~2(eye 8~10J/cm~2),1 or 3mm spot.According to the age of the patients, the shade of pigment, location, course of disease and doctor's experience, different technical parameters were selected. Treatment interval was more than 3 months.Treatment times were from 1 to 9,and photographs were taken before and after every time to observe the effect. The data is summarized with different treatment times, and then analyzed by SPSS 13.0 software. Results:After the treatment of 113 patients, excellent results were obtained in 45(39.82%) patients, good in 52(46.02%) patients, and improved in 12(10.62%) patients, four cases were invalid(3.54%),and the total effective rate was 96.46%.The time and effect of treatment were analyzed by Kruskal Wallis H test(rank sum test),the result showed:H=227.790,P<0.001,it indicated that clinical efficacy was significantly different with different treatment times;and further using Spearman analysis(correlation analysis),resulting in r=0.634,P<0.001,it indicated that the time and efficacy of treatment were positively correlated——the more treatment times, the better result would be done.Conclusion:1.The effect of Q-switch Nd:YAG laser therapy for nevus of Ota is positive;it is an ideal method for Ota's treatment up to date.2.It needs several treatment times, and in general, therapeutic effect increases with treatment times.
