| Mountain burning manipulation is one of commonly used clinical complex acupuncture manipulation.There are lots of documents about mountain burning manipulation in history,in which the origin formation development and clinical application is described. But they are mostly a certain aspect of mountain burning manipulation which lack of comprehensive and systematic summary. The research on mountain burning manipulation collects and analysis the document about mountain burning manipulation in order to fully introduce mountain burning manipulation.TCM basic theory and philological method combined with statistical method is used to analyze documents since Canon of internal medicine. The research analyzed the similarities and differences of concrete operation technique, point selection and treatment. The results show that mountain burning manipulation originated from Canon of internal medicine. Cold and heat acupuncture method generated accompany with the development of the single acupuncture method and heat-enforcing acupuncture. Mountain burning manipulation was named in the book of Poem of Golden Needle. Thereafter, medical practitioners inherited and developed mountain burning manipulation which resulted in different acupuncture methods. Authorization of mountain burning manipulation is that the ne edling manipulations are accomplished in three layers,named heaven,earth and human being. That the needle is inserted from a shallow layer to deep one, including three times of insertion and withdrawal base on 9 yang number and the manipulation is required as lifting needle slowly and thrusting needle forceful combined with slow-rapid,respiration,opening and closing the puncture hole reinforcing-reducing method. The standard of mountain burning manipulation is to produce warm sensation. point selection mainly with Zusanli (ST36) and Sanyinjiao (SP6) which has effect on benefit action is used for treatment of deficiency-cold syndrome.
