Purpose:This study investigates primary dysmenorrheal treatment based on reinforcing and reducing method according to syndrome differentiation. Its purpose is to treat primary dysmenorrheal by reinforcing and reducing techniques to further standardize clinical efficacy.Method:This study conducted randomized controlled trial to randomly assign qualified testers to a treatment group (EG) and a control group(CG). Both groups received acupuncture treatment and underlying disease treatment.30 patients in EG were treated with reinforcing insufficiency and reducing excessiveness (mountain burning manipulation and heavenly cool-inducing technique); and CG was treated with normal reinforcement and normal reduction. Both groups were accorded with TCM syndrome differentiation of primary dysmenorrheal, and treated with 3 acupuncture points, Sanyinjiao, Guanyuan and Zhongji. According to the observation before and after the treatment in 3 courses, dysmenorrheal symptom criteria, dysmenorrheal grading standards and therapeutic effect criteria were used to evaluate changes of dysmenor rheal degree and clinical efficacy for efficiency analysis.Result:The results showed that in EG and CG, differences of age, occupation, dysmenorrheal course, blood color and disease factors of the patients were not statistical ly significant (P> 0.05). Dysmenorrheal time of the two groups was statistically significantly different (P<0.01) before and after treatment. After treatment, data showed that degree of dysmenorrheal in both groups were improved significantly (P<0.05), and improvement of EG was better than that of CG. Data also showed that improvement of the therapeutic effect of EG was superior to that of GG. The total effective rate of EG was 96.6%, cure rate 70.0%; the total effective rate of CG was 86.7%, cure rate 46.7%. After treatment, the overa I I effect of the two groups was statistically significant different (P<0.05). The results showed that after treatment, the degree of dysmenorrheal was significantly improved and the overall clinical efficacy of EG was better than that of GG. Regarding five primary dysmenorrheal syndromes, except that syndrome of stagnant dampness-heat of the two groups were the same, for all the other syndromes, EG had better therapeutic effect than CG. For the treatment efficacy of excess and deficiency syndromes, the total effective rate of excess syndrome for EG was 94.7% and deficiency syndrome was 100.0%, both higher than CG. For the intervention of excess and deficiency syndromes, EG was more effective than CG in the reinforcing and reducing method. Conclusion:This study shows that both acupuncture by reinforcing insufficiency and reducing excess iveness and normal reinforcement and normal reduction have effect to the treatment of primary dysmenorrheal, but the effect of reinforcing insufficiency and reducing excessiveness is significantly superior to that of normal reinforcement and normal reduction, which indicates that mountain burning manipulation and heavenly cool-inducing technique have relatively better prospects for study and application in the treatment of primary dysmenorrheal.
