Objective: Observe the different effect of treatment on Ulcerative colitis patients by air-pressured herb enema and routine enema.Find the correlation between nitric oxide and ulcerative colitis. Find the correlation between intestinal bacterium and ulcerative colitis. Methods: 20 cases of ulcerative colitis are divided into two groups: routine group (10 cases) and air-pressured enema group (10 cases). Air-pressured herb enema uses computer controlled equipment, which injects herb liquid by air. Routine enema uses injector to inject herb liquid. Results: It shows that the air-pressured enema group has higher cures rate and less bloody purulent stool (P<0.01) and it has clear effect on intractable Ulcerative Colitis patients. The level of NO in blood serum after enema is lower than that before enema(P<0.05). The degree of intestinal dysbiosis after enema is more shallow than that before enema(P<0.05).Conclusion: Air-pressured enema increases the distribution of herb in total colon and improves the treatment effect of ulcerative colitis. Air-pressured enema is a new and simple and more effective and more scientific treatment on ulcerative colitis. Nitric oxide and intestinal bacterium are correlated with the etiopathogenisis in ulcerative colitis.
