Through theoretical thinking and integrating bibliography, history and other research methods, this thesis, traces the academic origins of qi transformation in Huangdi Neijing, defining the basic meaning of qi and qi transformation, interpreting the theories of qi transformation, refining the characteristics of qi transformation ideology, and further more interpret qi transformation ideology with regards to the human body, diseases, diagnosis, treatment and health cultivation and related content within Huangdi Neijing, attempts to summarize, induce and refine the fundamental theory of qi transformation within Huangdi Neifing.1 Academic origins of Huangdi Neijing qi transformation theoryThe academic origins of Huangdi Neijing qi transformation theory, mainly originates from ancient natural sciences and traditional culture.Natural Sciences The theory of Qi transformation utilizes ancient astronomy, phenology, study of calendar,shu-shu and other scientific results, forming the theory of qi transformation in"correspondence to heaven and man."Traditional Culture Referring to the Pre-Qin Taoism ideology of life regarding qi transformation, systematically research the origins of theoretical qi transformation.Within the scope of traditional culture, early Taoism ideology and the basic theory of Chinese medicine is the most similar.2.Research on qi transformation theory in Huangdi Neijing(1) The concept and characteristics of qi transformation theory in Huangdi NeijingQi transformation theory in Huangdi Neijing originates from the world view of"Qi"monism, the universe, and their relationship with humans.By exploring the celestial bodies, climate change, geographical environment and its impact on the human body, and through the use of ancient Chinese method of shu-shu and cognitive approach, form the systematic knowledge of the human life process. The most important content is the qi transformational way of thinking.Qi transformation theory in Huangdi Neijing possesses the four characteristics of era, theory, nationality and holism, revealing that qi transformation is the basis of theory in Huangdi Neijing.(2) The concept, classification and the role of"Qi"in Huangdi Neijing"Qi"is an ideographic character implies formlessness, continuous motion and ubiquitousness. The concept of"qi"in Huangdi Neijing includes the two categories of"qi with form"and"qi without form."Qi with form refers to the definite form of gaseous matter.Qi without form has two meanings:First,is that the meaning of"qi monism"deals with the cosmological view that the universe is the origin and source of power of all things;second,is what the function, attribute, status and information represent."Qi"is the intermediary between Huangdi Neijing and the"correspondence between heaven and man,"describing the important concepts of human life and is the principal part of qi transformation.(3) Concept of qi transformation in Huangdi Neijingâ‘ From a macro viewpoint,qi transformation is a continuous, ubiquitous and formless.process and phenomena.Qi transformation is what the ancient people used to describe climate, phenology and other natural phenomena from a macro viewpoint, and through the qi transformational way of thinking were able to analyze and make decisions.â‘¡From a mezzo viewpoint,qi transformation is the natural environment's affect in human life and its basic principles. This is mainly manifested in the form of qi transformation regarding time, state of human life and its structural relationship.â‘¢From a micro viewpoint,qi transformation refers to the general principles regarding the process and mechanics of nutrients that are converted into qi,blood, essence, fluid and biological substances essential to life, and its metabolism that form perspiration, urine, feces and other metabolic waste.(4) The characteristics, power and process of qi transformationQi transformation is a process and phenomenon, the basic characteristics is its universality in the world, direct intuitive sense of imagery, direction of time, alterations of continuous transformation, and systematic order of constant time. The process of qi transformation should be divided into three categories:â‘ The qi transformation process of the three natural levels of heaven, earth, mankind;â‘¡The qi transformation process between the natural and human levels of form,qi and spirit;â‘¢The qi transformation process within the body involving the essential substance from water and grains, breathing, and interchangeability of essence,qi and spirit.(5) The concept, deduction model and characteristics of the qi transformational way of thinkingThe qi transformational way of thinking relies on the principles of xiang-shu, perpetual motion and dynamic change, accordance with seasonal conditions, balance and the reliance on human intuition to understand natural qi transformation.Three deduction models of shu-shu regarding the qi transformational way of thinking in Huangdi Neijing are:the five movements and six qi model which is unique to Chinese medicine, the shu-shu technique of nine palaces and eight wind model, the Han Dynasty calendar gui-qi model.Among these, the five movements and six qi model is the main qi transformation deduction model of thinking.Due to the limitations of the"nine palaces and eight winds"and"gua-qi"in the area of medicine, the later development of these models where gradually marginalized.3.Related theories regarding qi transformation theory in Huangdi NeijingThrough research,I believe qi transformation theory encompasses natural viewpoint, anthropological viewpoint, and viewpoint from disease, diagnosis of diseases, treatment, and concept of qi transformation of health cultivation in Huangdi Neijing. In summary, this thesis through the study of the academic origins of qi transformation theory in Huangdi Neijing, clarifies the academic inheritance and ideology of the ancient natural sciences and cultural heritage of HuangdiNeijing.Through the comprehensive categorization of"qi"and"qi transformation"and related content in Huangdi Neijing form a systematic understanding of the concept of qi transformation theory, characteristics, and application, provide a new basis for theory and practice for modem scholars on the concept of"qi transformation,"characteristics, power and process and models. The research of Huangdi Neijing on the various theories of the qi transformational way of thinking, will enhance understanding and awareness, and strengthen the theoretical structure of qi transformation in Huangdi Neijing and in the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine.I believe that,qi transformation theory in Huangdi Neijing is an important foundation for the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine.Boosting the theoretical significance and academic value of current research on the basic theory of traditional Chinese medicine, and has an impact on all the aspects in the theoretical system of Chinese medicine.
