ObjectiveThe expression of Cox-2, bcl-2, EGFR, Ki-67, cyclin D1, survivin between primary and recurring tumor of NPC are compared in order to filter out specific molecular markers for monitoring the recurrence.Method40 nasopharyngeal biopsy specimens in which 20 were primary lesion (primary group)and the other 20 were recurring lesion (recurring group), were collected in General Hospital Guang Zhou Command of PLA from jul.1999 to jul.2009, among them 4 specimens of primary and recurring lesion was taken from the same patients. The expression of Cox-2, bcl-2, EGFR, Ki-67, cyclin D1, survivin were detected by Envision immunohistochemical staning. The final results were checked by Chi-square test.Results(1) The positive rate of Cox-2, bcl-2, EGFR, Ki-67, cyclin D1 and survivin in primary group were 85%(17/20),100%(20/20),95%(19/20),55%(11/20),25% (5/20) and 30%(6/20), respectively. And moreover, the strong positive rate of bcl-2 achieve 40%(8/20). (2) The positive rate of Cox-2, bcl-2, EGFR, Ki-67, cyclin D1, survivin in recurring group were 60%(8/20),65%(13/20),85% (17/20),40%(8/20),25%(5/20) and 20%(4/20), respectively. And the strong positive rate of bcl-2 was the same as primary group. (3) The index of Cox-2,bcl-2,EGFR,Ki-67,cyclin D1,survivinin in recurring group decreased in varying degrees compared to primary group, but the differences were not statistically significant except bcl-2.Conclusion(1) Cox-2, bcl-2, EGFR, Ki-67, cyclin D1, and survivin express highly in both primary and recurring tumor of NPC. (2) There is no obvious difference in expression between primary and recurring tumor of NPC except bcl-2.
