Objective:There are many methods in bone density study, among which the radioactivity absorption method is the most developed, accurate, convenient and simple one, but no much study on bone density reported with this method. This research investigated the bone density of health adults in southwest region of Liaoning province, to provide scientific evidences in grasping the current status, diagnosing and preventing osteoporosis as well as building data bank of normal Chinese bone density.Methods:Mean value of bone mineral density of 2-4 digit were measured in 1169 (males 580, females 589, aged from 20 to 70, grouped by 10 years are differences) healthy Han nationality medical examinates in Panjin city in RA(Radioactivity absorption) method with Mertiscan bone mineral density equipment of Alara Company in USA. T values were calculated to judge the osteopenia and osteoporosis incidences. The mean values of bone mineral density, osteopenia and osteoporosis were measured to analys the sex differences, age differences and the region differences.Result:1. The values of bone mineral density of 2-4 digit in males and female was 0.550g/cm2 and 0.502g/cm2 respectively, significant difference could be seen between the two group(P<0.01).2. Peak time of male and female bone mineral density is 30 years old, decreased trend could be seen in following time, for female significant downtrend occurred after 50 years old.3. Osteopenia rate in male in southwest region of Liaoning was 17.4% and the rate increased significantly with age. Till 60 years old the rate reached peak of 40.6%. Osteopenia rate in female was 18.0% and the rate increased significantly with age. The peak rate was 32.8% at the age of 50.4. Osteoporosis rate in male in southwest region of Liaoning was 11.6% and the rate increased significantly with age. Till 60 years old the rate reached peak of 29.7%. The rate in female was 13.2% and the rate increased significantly with age. The peak rate was 34.0% at the age of 60, which was significant higher than that of male.5. The bone mineral density of male and female in southwest region of Liaoning was lower than that of Langfang and Beijing region except 30 years group; the osteopenia Rate of male and female after 40 years group was significant more than that of Dalian, Nantong and Beijing; the osteoporosis Rate of male at 40 and 50 years group were significant higher than that of Dalian, Nantong and Beijing, other age group and female different groups showed no differences compared with the above regions.Conclusion:1. Low level of digit bone mineral density in male and female in southwest region of Liaoning.2. There were significant sex, age and area differences in bone mineral density, osteopenia and osteoporosis rate.
