This thesis elaborated the studies on the chemical constituents of Viburnum cylindricum and Clematis chinensis osbeck. Twenty compounds were isolated by column chromatography on silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, MCI, AL2O3 and RP-18, and which structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods, including 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and MS spectral techniques. These compounds covered triterpenoids and their glycosides, flavones and their glycosides, iridoid glycosides, lignans, steroides, lactone, aromatic compounds and sugar.Viburnum cylindricum is distributed in tropical area of Asia, which has been used as folk medicine to treat different diseases such as cough, diarrhea, rheumatoid arthritis and tumefaction . As the base for the resouruce use, we studied the chemical constituents of the leaves of Viburnum cylindricum. From the AcoEt-soluble material of an 80% Ethanol extract of the leaves of Viburnum cylindricum, Eleven compounds were isolated from the leaves of Viburnum cylindricum. Five Compounds are obtained from this plant for the first time. The compounds were identified as ursolic acid, qucertin, amenthoflavone, apigenin, luteolin, qucertin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, rutin, dimethyl-secologanoside, (+)-3α-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-lyoniresinol,β-daucosterol,α-D-glucoside andβ-D-glucoside.Clematis chinensis osbeck is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine, and which have extensive pharmacological effect. We studied the chemical constituents of the roots of Clematis chinensis osbeck. Nine compounds were isolated , eight compounds are obtained from this plant for the first time. The compounds were identified as cimigenol, cimigenol-3-O-β-D-xylpyranoside, cimigoside, friedelin, (+)-3,3'-Bisdemethylpinoresinol, ferulic acid, syringic acid, 5-O-feruloyl-2-deoxy-D-ribono-γ-lactone andβ-sitosterol.We covers the research advances in the studies on the chemical constituents of Clematis chinensis osbeck and its counterfeits. we makes a comparison between them. As a tesult, the counterfeits should not be used as'weilingxian'because there is a great difference in the chemical constituents, and it's reasonable that Clematis chinensis osbeck is contained in the Ch.P. Clematis stans Sieb. et Zucc and Clematis terniflora may be used as the resource substitute of Clematis chinensis osbeck. The quality control, biological activity and clinical application of Clematis chinensis osbeck were summarized. The review covers 58 literatures.
