Okra(Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench), herbs annual, Which was commonly known as lady's finger, bhindi and gumbo, belongs to Abelmoschus of Malvaceae. Okra is of African origin but now is also grown in different tropical and warm temperature regions of the world, like mainland of china, which was inducted in the early 1990's. Okra is a flowering plant valued for its edible fruits and also valued for its officinal hygienical effect. Okra is mild, cold-natured and has the effect of relieving sore throat, treating strangurg, promoting lactation and regulating menstruation.Which was Cultivated for its medicinal flower, seed, root, fruit and also has good effects on furuncle and carbuncle. As well as anti-fatigue, anti-ulcer, antioxidant, gastric mucosal protection and body resistance enhancement. In order to understand its substance bases of pharmacological effect, the investigation on chemical constituents of Okra was carried out and summaried in this thesis.By means of silica gel column, sephadex LH-20 gel column and recrystallization. Twenty-seven compounds together were isolated and determined from the fruits of Okra, based on their physicochemical properties and spectral date. The structures of twenty-six compounds of them are identified as 23(Z)-cycloart-23-ene-3β,25-diol(1), aurantiamide acetate(2), cycloart-25(26)-ene-3β,24-diol(3), ergosta-7,22-dien-3β-ol(4),6β-hydroxy-stigmasta-4-ene-3-one(5), 6β-hydroxy-stigmasta-4,22-diene-3-one(6),stigmasta-5-ene-3β-ol-7-one(7),stigmasta-5,22-diene-3β-ol-7-one(8),5α,6α-epoxyergosta-8(14),22-diene-3β,7a-diol(9), stigmast-5-ene-3β,7a-diol(10), stigmast-5,22-diene-3β,7a-diol(11), hexadecanoic acid(12), stigmasta-4-ene-3β,6β-diol(13), stigm-asta-4,22-diene-3β,6β-diol(14), stigmast-5-ene-3β,7β-diol(16), stigmast-5,22-diene-3β,7β-diol(17), ergosta-7,22-diene-3β,5α,6β-triol(18), daucosterol(19),5α,8α-epidi-oxyergost-22-en-3-diol(20),β-sitosterol(21), stigmasterol(22), lupeol(23), stigmast-4-ene-3,6-dione(24), stigmast-4,22-diene-3,6-dione(25), stigmasta-4-ene-3-one(26), stigmasta-4,22-diene-3-one(27). Compound(1)~(11),(13)~(18),(20),(23)~(27) are obtained from the plant for the first time and also from the Malvaceae for the first time.
