Polygonmu orientale L.is annual lofty grass family, spending fruit expect 6 ~ 9 months , which can grow 1-2 meters. The mature drying fruit of Polygonmu orientale L. is fructus polygoni orientalis. It scatter in provinces such as Liaoning , Jiangsu , Shandong , Jilin , Sichuan. You can find it in places such as wayside , river bank , grassplot , brae, also it used to be helping advance career. It's used for curing a stomachache , eating the product , cacochylia , cirrhosis of liver ascites , hepatospl-enomegaly , little child infantile malnutrition , rheumatism arthralgia , acute conjunctivitis , neck lymph node core and so on .It can be used to have resist the tumour , bacteriostat , diuresis effect , modern be used to cure cirrhosis of liver , hepatitis B clinically , anti-freezing blood to primary liver cancer. In order to go a further step on the active nature of the component, we have carried out systematic chemical research on the fruit of Polygonmu orientale L.The irradiation making use of filter paper follows the analysis picking up a thing to fructus polygoni orientalis carrying out antibiosis activity , fructus polygoni orientalis ethyl acetate extracts the activity that the thing has to be sure to be antibiosis to two kinds microorganisms. In our investigation of chemical constituents from Homalomena gigantea Engl.(collected in Yunnan province in China), twenty compounds were isolated by the methods of normalphase and reverse-phase silica gel column chromatography, HPLC, etc. Among them, eleven compounds were elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectral methods. The eleven known compounds were identified as: isovanillic acid(1),Isovanillin(2), vanillic acid(3), 3,5,7-Trihydroxy chromone(4), taxifolin(5), eriodictyol(6), aromadendrin(7), quercetion (8),catechin(9),epigallocatechin(10),4-(2-hydroxyethyl)phenol(11).
