A Comparative Study Of Different Methods In Thrombotherapy Of Hepatic Hemangioma

Purpose: to explore and compare the efficacy of different methods in thrombotherapy of hepatic hemangioma.Methods: The clinical data of 40 cases of hepatic hemangioma treated with thrombotherapy in my hospital from December 2006 to September 2009 were retrospectively analyzed, in which 20 cases treated with pingyangmycin-lipiodol emulsion and gelatin sponge were regarded as experimental group, and the other 20 cases treated with pingyangmycin-lipiodol emulsion as controls. Statistical analysis was performed on the therapeutic effect, early-ambulation time, hospitalization time, complication incidence, satisfactory rate of patients and the peri-operative serum TBA level between two groups 6 months after procedure.Results: The therapeutic effect of pingyangmycin-lipiodol emulsion and gelatin sponge group was better than that of controls (P <0.05) for the extent of reduction of the tumer. Compared to controls, early-ambulation time and hospitalization time were distinctly shorter in experimental group (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in the complication incidence between two groups (P >0.05). No significant difference of the serum TBA level could be seen between two groups before procedure (P >0.05), while after procedure the serum TBA level in the pingyangmycin-lipiodol emulsion and gelatin sponge group was significantly lower than that in controls (P <0.05). The satisfactory rate of patients in experimental group was significantly higher than that of controls (P <0.05).Conclusions:â‘ The characteristics of pathology and blood supply was the theorical basis for the thrombotherapy of hepatic hemangioma.â‘¡Pingyangmycin-lipiodol emulsion, which was put into the blood vessels selectively and stayed in a long time, performed the therapeutic effect by devascularization in hepatic hemangioma.â‘¢Pingyangmycin-lipiodol emulsion and gelatin sponge method had great advantage for the treatment of hepatic hemangioma by blocking the proximal artery of the tumer superoselectively and prolonging the stay time of pingyangmycin-lipiodol emulsion.
