The Clinical Significance Of Advanced Oxidation Protein Products In Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Complicated With Atherosclerosis Praecox

Objective:To estimate the degree of oxidtive stress and atherosclerosis praecox in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus by comparing the levels of serum AOPPs,Hcy,SOD,MDA in 44 patients with SLE and 31 healthy controls, including the comparsion of baPWV,CIMT between two groups,and emphasize on exploring AOPPs'clinical significance in premature atherosclerosis in systemic lupus erythematosus.Methods:Collecting 44 non-menopausal women SLE patients from our hospital in-patient department or out-patient department,providing the serum samples,and evaluating the patients'systemic lupus erythematosus disease activity index,disease duration,serum lipids,blood pressure for grouping;collecting the serum from 31 healthy middle-aged women (including nurses,graduate students and healthy women from medical examination center in our hospital).The levels of AOPPs,Hcy,MDA,SOD,baPWV and CIMT were detected,and make more detailed groups in SLE patients,with or without hypertention,disease duration more than 5 years or less than 5 years,active or inactive,then compare above- mentioned targets in these groups.Results:The levels of AOPPs,Hcy,MDA in SLE patients are significantly higher than healthy controls (P<0.05), The activities of SOD are lower than healthy controls (P<0.05). The levels of AOPPs,Hcy,MDA,SOD have statistical significance in SLE patients with or without hypertension,disease duration≥5 years or <5 years,active or inactive groups. There are two cases with CAP in patients with SLE (45 years old and 49 years old respectively,with more than 5 years disease duration ) ,while there is on one similar case in healthy controls.The levels of baPWV and CIMT in patients with SLE are higher than healthy controls(P<0.05). The levels of baPWV and CIMT have statistically significance in SLE patients group with or without hypertention and the disease duration more than or less than 5 years(P<0.05),while there is on statistically significance between the active or inactive group ( P > 0.05 ) .The level of serum AOPPs has significantly positive correlation with the level of Hcy,MDA,TC,TG,LDL,baPWV and CIMT,has negative correlation with the level of serum SOD.Conclusion:SLE patients present increased oxidative stress and significant prevalence of atherosclerosis than healthy controls;The disease duration,oxidative stress and hypertension play important roles in the duration of atherosclerosis. AOPPs probably involves in accelerated atherosclerosis of SLE patients,could be a predictor index to estimate systemic lupus erythematosus complicated with atherosclerosis praecox;and AOPPs could be a judgement for disease activities. There are more risks of atherosclerosis phenomena in SLE patients in active phase.
