| Objectives:This study was to observe the level of the TGF-a and P I NP in the serum of the patients with essential hypertension to study the relationship between the level of TGF-a/P I NP and left ventricular hypertrophy of essential hypertension.Methods:(1)In this study, we Selected 50 hypertensive patients into a group,among which there were 15 samples with left ventricular hypertrophy and 35 samples without left ventricular hypertrophy;and 30 normal healthy volunteers were selected as controls.(2)Collecting the fasting periphery blood and the centrifugal upper serum from the hypertension group and the control group to test the serum level of TGF-a as well as P I NP by using ELISA method.(3)Comparing the level of TGF-a and P I NP from the two groups of hypertensive patients and the normal healthy volunteers respectively. (4) Meanwhile, using echocardiography to measure the IVST, LVPW and LVEDD and calculating their LVMI.Results:(1)Compared with the control group,the level of the TGF-a and P I NP in the patients with essential hypertension has increased significantly (p<0.01)and density of the patients with left ventricular hypertrophy was higher than those without ventricular hypertrophy (p<0.05).(2)LVMI of the patients with or without left ventricular hypertrophy was obviously higher than that the control group (p<0.05).(3)The level of TGF-a was correlated with the level of P I NP (r=0.579,p<0.01),the level of TGF-a was related to the LVMI positively (r=0.431,p<0.01)and Pâ… NP was relevant to LVMI positively (r=0.544,p<0.01).Conclusions:(1)The serum level of TGF-a and P I NP in the patients with essential hypertension has increased respectively and the density of them has risen when the left ventricular hypertrophy occurs, which is compared with the subjects without ventricular hypertrophy.(2)The TGF-αand P I NP are probably related to the occurrence and development of left ventricular hypertrophy and Essential Hypertension.
