Objective:To study the physical and psychomotor development of ICSI children at 1~3 years of age. Methods:A total of 70 term-born singletons conceived by ICSI and 80 matched Nature conceived (NC) singletons at 1~3years of age participated voluntarily in the study. The physical and psychomotor development of the children conceived by ICSI or nature was evaluated. The child's physical developmental assessment was done with height and weight reference value of 0-6 years old children which recommend by WHO. The child's psychomotor developmental assessment was done with the Children Development Center of China(CDCC) scales of infant development. A matched control study was performed on physical and psychomotor development of two groups of children. The NC group was matched according to matemal age , marital status, family origin, home economics situation, parents educational level .Results:1. Compared to NC singletons, ICSI singletons'birth weight was slightly lower than the NC ones, but the difference was not statistically significant.2. There was no significant difference in feeding and incidence of disease at neonatal period or early childhood between the two groups3.There was also no significiant difference in the psychomotor development and physical development between the two groups . But for the comparison of the MDI, PDI≤69 points (those whose psychomotor development were lower than the normal) , ICSI group were lower than NC group, and the difference was statistically significant (p <0.05).4.A Logistic regression analysis for all the children indicated that Maternal age,Marital status, Family origin, Home economics situation, Parents educational level had no significant influnence on physical development of children.5.A multivariate regression analysis for all the children indicated that fathers'education level had a statistical significance on children's MDI (t=2.409,p<0.05), but no statistical influence on the PDI. And maternal age, marital status, family origin, home economics situation were all had no significant influence on MDI and PDI.Conclusions:1.No significantly difference was found in the physical development and psychomotor development between NC and ICSI children born at term at 1~3 years of age.2.For the comparison of the MDI, PDI≤69 points (those whose psychomotor development were lower than the normal) , ICSI group were lower than NC group, and the difference was statistically significant (p <0.05).
