Objective:Introduce the medical film composed of alginate gels, to explore prevent bone cement seepage in PVP.Methods:Take 60 fresh healthy vertebraes of pigs(the average weight 152.5+7.5 kg,10-month old) and randomly divided them into blank, control and experimental group respectively. Each group contained 20 vertebraes. Eliminated the extra muscles, ligaments, and retain a complete upper and lower end-plat. On one side of the vertabral body, lateral of the joint between transverse process and superior articular process, by a drill of 3.2 mm diameter, we drilled two holes along the direction of pedicle of vertebral arch, the angle of drill and sagittal plane was 10°and 15°. The drill pulled through the vertabral body, made two holes on the front of the vertabral body. The blank group:each vertebrae was directly injected bone cement; the control group:each vertebrae was firstly injected medical adhesive proteins, and then injection of bone cement, the experimental group:each vertebrae was firstly injected sodium alginate glue, then injected saturated calcium chloride, at last injected bone cement. If the bone cement leaked, recorded the volumes of bone cement, which were injected in spinal bone. Results:In experimental group of medical film which is mainly composed of alginate gels, the total volumes of bone cement injected in the vertebrae when the bone cement began to leak, were more than the blank group and control group (P<0.01).Conclusion:The medical film can be effective in preventing bone cement in PVP.
