Music education is the basic quality education with aesthetic as its core, according to music---an integrated art, it can make students feel music and experience music. And also, it enable students feel life and society and in a sense create life in music, so that it can make students form wholesome and healthy personality, and can promote students'full development both mentally and physically. With the continuous development of economic society, the work of music education is also deepening, but unfortunately, there is a huge gap between urban and rural music education, we can't see education equity in urban and rural music education. The so-called education equity is people's understanding and value judgment to the allocation of education resources, is citizen's equal position and equitable share of educational resources in educational activities, and is the extension as well as embodiment of social equal value in educational field. As a large agricultural country, 60﹪of China's people live in rural areas, so it is always important and difficult for china's education to achieve urban and rural education equity, and it embodies all of our important issues of education equity. Therefore, it is very important and practical to investigate and focus on rural music education from the current situation of urban and rural education equity.Based on extensive literature and choosing three schools in Harbin and Longjiang county as study object, this thesis pays attention to describing the current situation as well as the main problems of music education in Harbin and Longjiang county through comparative analysis. Through a large number of questionnaires and charts, this thesis represents the current situation of music education in Harbin and Longjiang county . In order to highlight the great difference and the inequitable status of music education between urban and rural education, this thesis uses the way of comparison, interview and questionnaire to have a comparative analysis. Finally, this thesis will analyze the reasons of music education inequity in depth.This thesis tries to deeply analyze the main factors which cause the difference between urban and rural areas, and on this bases propose some concrete strategies to narrow the gap between urban and rural music education and to realize the healthy development of rural music education. I hope this thesis can provide a reference for the state education department to develop education policies and regulations. And also, I hope to provide useful ideas to achieve sustainable development of education in China.
