The Competition between Tang Poetry and Song Poetry was full of the poem in the Late Ming Dynasty and the Early Qing Dynasty. Since Yuan and Ming dynasty, when talking about poets, many poets invariably mentioned Tang Poetry instead of paying attention to Song Poetry. Under such circumstance, some poets like Qian Qianyi, Huang Zongxi scouted for the value of the Song Poetry again. Moreover, others like Wu Zhizhen, Lv Liuliang also lent all-out support to it through complying Song Poem Copies, making Song Poetry popular in the early period of the Qing Dynasty. Among them, the most outstanding poet was Zha Shenxing, whose Jingyetang Poetry thought highly of Song Poetry, because he learned from such Sung poets as Su Shi and Lu You. What is more, he advocated learning from the poets in Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty instead of only learning from those in Qing Dynasty, which was highly sang by others.To begin with, a brief account of Zha Shenxing's life and a clear narration of his works are presented in the introduction. The next is a brief review and description of concerned academic researches of Zha Shenxing and his poems on a basis of references and materials which have been mastered by the author of this thesis.In Chapter One, Jingyetang Poetry is analyzed in detail from the description of dazzling natural scenes, kinds of unique customs and a tranquil rural life, finding that Zha's traveling life was beneficial to his works, that is to say, that Jingyetang Poetry could be finished successfully contributed to the rivers and mountains he had been to.In Chapter Two, Zha's poems were found to adopt the advantages of Song Poetry without being influenced by its disadvantages. Section One described"Section One described his good command of using language, because he was good at depicting objects in words according to the surroundings", because he was good at depicting objects in words according to the surroundings. Besides, in his poems, the language was easy to understand with many vivid metaphors. Sections Two put emphasis on his incorporating the strong points of various schools, for example, he modestly learned from Du Fu, Bai Juyi, Sushi, Lu You and so on.In Chapter Three, it is found that Zha was important in the history of Song Poetry, because he was the first poets who got a lot of achievements. Zha's efforts proved the value of Song Poetry, making learing Song Poetry feasible. He pointed out some approaches.
