This thesis takes Ni Hao as the object of our research. Ni Hao is a series of Chinese textbooks authored by Shumang Fredlein, who is an experienced Chinese teacher in Australia. By analyzing the features of Ni Hao and figuring out its success secrete in Australia and North America, the results may offer references for editors authoring oversea Chinese textbooks and therefore push forward the development of Chinese international education.Ni Hao stands out in terms of practical and interesting features. Corpus inclines to an oral manner yet topics are popular in youth lives. Texts are interesting enough and cultivate students' communicative skills. New words are explained in terms of morpheme or single character, which helps students to understand the meaning better and to expand vocabulary. In addition, Ni Hao focuses on promoting Chinese culture, introducing different culture stories. All these features highlight Ni Hao in a fierce oversea Chinese textbook market. However, Ni Hao was authored according to the teaching experience, and lack of necessary theoretic guidance, which leads to the result that book IV is no longer an elementary textbook. And in terms of culture section, the author should have been more attentive in selecting culture topics.
