Textbook is the text teaching language knowledge, more important, it is the carrier of culture, which plays a very important role on language teaching.AP (Advanced Placement) is the Advanced Placement for American University, it also provides the opportunity for high school students to study the university course, accordingly, taking exam will get university recognition and exchange for a certain number of credits. The AP Chinese textbooks came into being because of AP Chinese course and examination. So far, AP Chinese textbooks have not unified version, but have unified standard in accordance with the "standard of 21st century learning foreign language", in which the "5C" is the core goal. Therefore, AP textbooks’ design and arrangement have slightly difference from traditional Chinese textbooks. Compared with domestic textbooks, it is more communicated and practical, covering more Chinese cultural contents. This characteristic is in line with the future development of Chinese textbooks.This thesis mainly researches AP textbook "Magical Tour of China" and "New Practical Chinese Textbooks" (vol.1-4). According to the theory of textbook compilation and principles, this research summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of each textbook by the comparison of the material arrangement, new words, the text rendering, language points, practice settings, and cultural projects, especially the representative of the domestic textbook "New Practical Chinese Textbooks". It also combines analysis student usage survey results, collecting further students’ willingness and demand analysis. Drawing on the ideas of the compiling of the Chinese textbook of the United States, the improvement measures of the domestic Chinese textbooks are put forward to achieve the purpose of guiding the teaching and promoting the dissemination of Chinese language.
