"Promoting Chinese to the World" is put forward with the improvement of China's economic strength and international status. It is not only the part of macro strategy to enhance national soft power but the logical extension of the Chinese international teaching. However, there is a great shortage of competent international Chinese teachers and principles of teacher selection are not well established either.]lThis paper explores the competency factors of international Chinese teachers and has established an international Chinese teacher's competency model which will help to lay a theoretical foundation for carrying out a targeted competency construction for international Chinese teachers.] For the young teachers can correctly realize and upgrade their knowledge by knowing the qualities and abilities that international Chinese teachers should have, and then bring their international Chinese teaching cause to the better development.To know the relevant research that has already done and the future tendency, this paper first collects materials on "competency", "teacher's competency" and "international Chinese teachers"After that, the research adopts Behavioral Event Interview Method which selects international Chinese teachers and students as interview subjects and makes thematic analysis on interviews to get the 97 competency items of international Chinese teachers. After repeated analysis and artificial selection, a "International Chinese Teacher Competency Questionnaire" is finally formed with thirty four items. With the method of immediate return after directly distributing the questionnaires,132 valid questionnaires are obtained. Among them,54 are finished by the teachers in the outstanding group,78 by general teachers. The data are analyzed with SPSS15.0 statistical software package and the method of principal component analysis is adopted to extract the factors in the items.6 factors are finally extracted which cumulative variation explanation rate is 65.270%. With 6 factors, good teachers and general teachers are distinguished between significant differences, which further validate the factor structure of 6 international Chinese teacher's elements of reasonable competence. The Alpha coefficient of the questionnaire is 0.9685, which indicates this questionnaire is reliable. And the homogeneity reliability of each subscale is above 0.750, which shows that the consistency reliability of this questionnaire is high and the measurement result is reliable. In addition, the correlation coefficient of subscales stays between 0.371 and 0.727 with a moderate degree of correlation among scales and the correlation coefficient of subscales is obviously lower than that between the subscale and the total score, which also indicates that the construction validity of this questionnaire is effective. Finally, after the verification with software LISREL8.7, it is found that the t values of the 34 items in the model are all greater than 1.96 and that the chi-square value/degrees of freedom> 3, CFI> 0.9, NNFI> 0.9. Therefore, the results are statistically significant. The proposed model fits the data well and the modeling is reasonable.Six competency characteristics are listed in the model:three factors on discipline knowledge (Expertise, Cross-disciplinary knowledge, Related Culture and Talent), ten factors on vocational skills(Teaching ability, Knowledge imparting, Resilience, Ability to use the materials,Interactive skills, Individualized teaching, Guidance, Interest stimulation, Error correctio, Scientific research), five factors on personality traits(Cheerful, Affinity, Patience, carefulness, Open-mindedness), four factors on the professional manners(Rigorous scholarship, Responsibility, Qualified teacher, Care for students), seven factors on intercultural communication competency(Foreign language, Communication skills, Cross-cultural communication, Environment adaptation, Cross-cultural blend, Self control, Cooperation) and five factors on professional development(Rethinking, Experience summarization, Learning ability,Career planning, Innovation).
