A Tentative Study On The Composition Of Chinese Landscape Painting Composed By Gong Xian

Gong Xian, the top of the Eight Masters in Jinling, is a painter whose living time is in chaos; which leads to his unsettled life and living environment. His special living environment completes him as a painter full of rebellious spirits and individualism. He carries the traditional ink-accumulation technique and individualizes it into his unique style.Tracing back to Gong Xian's living time environment, the writer, analyzes the inner connection between motif and composition of landscape painting of Gong Xian's time, explores the composing features (derived from conditioned Chinese ink painting form) in landscape painting of Gong Xian. Thereafter, the writer summarizes Gongxian's distinctive style of composition. At last, the writer touches on the influence of concerned Gong Xian's distinctive style of composition on modern Chinese landscape painting, and the possibility of applying Gongxian's distinctive style of composition in modern exhibition hall.
