The youth idol drama is an important type in the mainland TV drama market. It is based mainly on modern urban subject , interpreted by the young idols, and it shows young man's emotional course and their pursuit with an inspiring spirit and modern consciousness. It reflects young man's current status and emotional survival, and pays attention to packaging and broadcasting of the idol and business request . This article is based on summarization of the youth idol drama in the main land. With the current widespread postmodern theory, I analyze deeply the thread of the development of the youth idol drama﹑culture background and the characters it shows in the context of postmodern society. This article reveals some problems which interrupt the development of the youth idol drama, and discovers the significance of developing inland youth idol drama. I think, the development of youth idol drama go through three periods. The first is at the beginning of the youth idol drama to be, the second is awkward existence and the last is dense willow trees and bright flowers. And it shows distinct characteristics in selection of actors﹑subject﹑the narrative style and the performance .Now youth idol drama includes a few essential elements: youth﹑ idol﹑fashion and spirit. I think, youth cultural diversity﹑the process of commercialization﹑the formation of the consumer society and the change of social strata is cultural and ecological environment of this type drama, meanwhile the youth idol drama is the result of development of traditional opera forms in the context of postmodern society. The youth idol drama shows some distinct characters as follows , NO1: standardized production of the youth idol drama, including stylized relationship between the two characters﹑typification of role﹑stylized classical situation and learning from other features. NO2: the idols gathered satisfy the demand of image consumption. The idols are not only provided to satisfy image consumption, but also guide consumption. They guide the consumption of both the material consumption and spiritual consumption. NO3: the exploration and attempt to implant advertisement . Because stars in the youth idol drama are numerous and they can guide consumption successfully ,so many advertisers implant a lot of advertisement which on the one hand can effectively solve funds, on the other hand hindered the creators and affect quality and standard of the youth idol drama. We should therefore be careful with the implantation , and consider whether the spirit passed by the youth idol drama fit in with the spirit impressed by advertisement .NO4: Its open text includes the relation between the youth idol drama text and the reality﹑network. There are still many handicaps because of imperfect urbanization﹑insufficient inland TV drama market and extreme business request. However, it means a lot to develop youth idol drama in the main land. It helps to flourish the cultural market and make inland youth culture grow smartly.
