Opera and dance both are treasures of arts in Chinese traditional culture. They form their own artistic characteristics through the long years of mutual integration, influence, promotion and development. The art of dance is not only a source of Opera, but also provides rich content for roles in Opera. Opera is a fusion of dance and plays an important role in the continuity of dance. The complete training system and performing technique of Opera lays a solid foundation of the formation, teaching, performances of Chinese Classical Dance. This paper takes the relationship between Opera and dance as a starting point to explore the art of Opera's impact on Chinese dance. It will be divided into four sections:Chapter I: The paper starts with clarifying the development of the art of Chinese Opera, then analyses several important stages of it to explore the relationship between the Opera and dance in each stages. (They are closely related in the form of expression and social function as they have similar living environment.)Chapter II: This chapter focuses on the integration and separation of Opera and Chinese dance. It mainly discusses the origin and functions of the Opera, how dance separating from the Opera and the discipline construction and development of Chinese Classical Dance, in order to show the Opera's reasonable reference to Chinese Classical Dance and the progress of creative separation of Chinese Classical Dance from Opera.Chapter III: This chapter focuses on the influence of the art of Chinese Opera on the teaching and performances of Chinese Classical Dance. The art of Chinese Opera has been influenced the development of Chinese Classical Dance for a long time, from the early teaching construction to the final formation of entire action and expression education system and conventions of performance. It shows that Chinese Classical Dance was deeply influenced by the Opera..Chapter IV: This chapter presents the aesthetic features inherited in Opera and dance through the comparison of them in terms of reflecting the content of culture. It compares and analyses their performances and appreciations to explore the use of the Opera's elements in contemporary Chinese dance's works.
