In this essay, the classical theory of communication which is"Use and Gratification"will be used as the analysis framework, and meanwhile, the empirical research will be applied in this study, which adopts the In- depth Interview primarily and adopt the Textual Analysis secondary, and finally to study the major needs and gratification approaches of the college students while using the mobile telephone media. This study will choose the In-depth Interview analysis in the half-structure basis of 24 college students from different universities of Beijing, and the data will be systematized and analyzed to get the final conclusion.Through the research, we can find out that there are 15 kinds of Mobile telephone Media being used by the interviewed college students, which will be summarized by the author into 5 different types which is mobile telephone communication, mobile telephone news, mobile telephone community, mobile telephone entertainment and mobile telephone's other media tools. While the interviewed college students are using the different types of the mobile telephone media, the different needs will be showed out. Also, the college students'use of the mobile telephone media has involved from the media audience's traditionally and simply using the"media information"to the combination of the"media information"and the"media itself". The extension of the range of the above use has enriched gratification forms of the mobile telephone media. The mobile telephone media has 3 traditional forms of gratification approach which is the diversion utility, the personal relation utility and the surveillance utility, and on the basis of the these 3 types of gratification approach, the mobile telephone media can extend the connotation of the gratification. At the same time, the mobile telephone media pioneer the unprecedented new types of the gratification approach which is the self-fulfilling utility and the tools utility. However, the traditional utility of the personal identity is disappearing in the use of the mobile telephone media.On this basis, we can find out that many problems existing in the process of the interviewed college students'use and gratification of the mobile telephone media, which is the overloading of garbage information, the previewing of the mobile telephone addition, the expanding of the information gap and so on. These problems not only affect the extent of the gratification of the mobile telephone media to the college students, but to a certain extend will bring the negative effects to the growth and the development of the college students.
