As two distinctly different genres in the modern literary history,"Beijing School of Literature"and"Shanghai School of Literature"both deliver"The Complex of Returning Home"from their works, which not only means inheritance from the nostalgic theme of returning home, but also digging deeply into the particular implication of the concept of Returning Home. Backing to initial period in thirty of twenty century, when the two Schools born, although they had different methods, different state of mind, different results, searching for their own home from different perspective, all built the spiritual world belong to themselves on the way home.Fully descriptions of urban life have been done by new-perception writers, which embody that the interaction between person and objects conveys a complex life style, and city acts as the environment people live, also as the hero of the novels; people living in urban become the product of the city and the slave of materials, because of contamination from the material mode of thinking and emotional indifference in the cities. Relative to the Shanghai School writers, who have preference with the cities, the Beijing School writers struggle with poles between urban and rural, who behave as wanderers in cities and observers in countries, always in the edge of two cultures. There are great attentions with the modern sense of emotional drift from both the Beijing School and the Shanghai School writers. The Shanghai School writers focus on the feeling of people in Shanghai, including lost of mind, wandering and lonely; By contrast, the Beijing School has more words on the lingering Contradictory Psychology in ones mind, who under the process of urbanization. Both facing the interaction and conflict between urban and rural, the Beijing School and the Shanghai School writers declare the complex of returning home with pens under a wandering state, but how to describe the feeling makes works different by different writers. Beautiful childhood memories of home and self-concept of poetic countries always pave the way home of the Beijing School writers; and the ear-piercing music, messy dance, women's arms makes the Shanghai School writers find sustenance by switching eyes to the self-inner world. In the text of the Beijing School and the Shanghai School works,"the train"became the common image, which represented the real tools for returning home, also the bridge connecting urban civilization with rural culture. The modern material civilization takes"the train"as representative, has inspired writers from both the Beijing School and the Shanghai School to recover and reflect the social and aesthetic modernity. It is a spiritual home watched from a long distance and filtrated by layers that pursuit by the Beijing School and the Shanghai School writers, where is there no filthy, only the ideal of freedom, tranquility and harmony. At the end, Returning Home has been a symbolic world, which made sustenance merely spiritual reliance, hosting the wonderful spiritual homeland the writers desired and the heavy mental anxiety. Once deconstruction comes, all will be disappeared, making dream become pain which is no place to dispose of. Deconstruction comes from two forces, one is the inherent utopia nature of the home, and the other is the urban preference of writers in the reality outside. these two forces together not only cause the tragic results of Returning Home, pain from hard searching and construction, but also make the writers hope and comfort in the distant and uncertain location, so that they would constantly seek to break all the plight waving to the spiritual home. This is the spirit track of Chinese intellectuals during the transformation period, also self-consciousness of own and human destiny in the writers'mind.
