"Modernity" is a very dynamic concept,(the changes and connotations are very complex)like the Medusa in Greek myth, always showing a multiple faces. Modernity in China is a very controversial topic, some people think that the problem of modernity is a false proposition, modernity has not happened in China. But nobody can denied that modernity has already occurred in China, and at the certain period,(about 1930-1937),the performance of modernity has a variety of styles. This multi-style show in Beijing and Shanghai faction was particularly apparent. In this paper, through the different writing of modernity of Shanghai school and Beijing school, draw the following conclusions:Modernity is not a one-way mode:influence→acceptance or West→East.Indeed modernity took place in West firstly, but in China, absorbed by different literary genre and evolved completely different characteristics from Western modernity.By comparison of Shanghai school and Beijing school in modernity,we selected two writers as representative of this two, the:Fei Ming and Mu Shiying, the more detailed analysis for the two authors.By the analysis of Beijing and Shanghai different choices of modernity, finding out the differences between them,of course,is one of the purposes. The more important objective is,through the different choice of modernity of two representative local literary genre, sketching a relatively complete section of the modernity in China, and getting more comprehensive grasp of modernity in China.
