Context is a factor of verbal communication. In the process of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, proper application of the context helps the teaching organization and the achievement of the teaching effect. This paper discusses the reading teaching from the perspective of the context. First, it explains the relation between the context and the reading teaching by generalizing the theory. Then, it argues the application of the context in the reading teaching. Finally, it discusses the reading teaching in the foreign country without the target language.This article includes five chapters, the main content is from Chapter two to Chapter four.Chapter one is the introduction. It not only introduces the research situation, the object, the target and the method of research, but also explains the resource of corpus.Chapter two explains the relation between the context and the reading teaching. This part puts forward a point that the context has a close relation with the reading teaching and could guide and help the reading teaching by analyzing the concept of context and reading teaching. There are two proofs. First, three parts of context play different roles in reading teaching. Second, three parts of context have different influences on the task of reading teaching in different stages.Chapter three describes the application of the context in reading teaching from four points of view: the application of the context at the level of word, sentence, section and reading skill. It proves the context how to play its role in different parts.Chapter four mainly describes the Chinese teaching in foreign country. It puts forward some advice in reading teaching based on the context by analyzing reading teachingChapter five is the conclusion. In a word, this paper discusses the relation based on the context theory and from the perspective of the reading teaching. It is an attempt at the research of the context application, hoping to provide a practical and valuable reference to the development of the context theory and the reading teaching in Chinese teaching as a foreign language.
