Singapore, as a country of immigrants, is multi-racial, multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-lingual. The official language is English, Chinese, Malay and tamil. And simultaneously, the bilingual policy of English combined with native language has been established. With this policy, the Chinese teaching of Singapore has increasingly been improved. Furthermore, this is also a fundamental for Chinese in Singapore to continue native culture and develop native economy.Singapore and China has their respective advantages and disadvantages in Chinese teaching. Singapore has overcome difficulties, explored in different aspects and made great contributions to Chinese as a second language. While China has made Chinese teaching as native language teaching through education in middle school and primary school. Teachers and investigators in China are also active in exploring how to develop Chinese teaching in the new era.Singapore and China has learned a lot from each other. Practically speaking, it is necessary and worthwhile to study breadthwise the same period of the Chinese teaching between these two countries. This will contribute to develop Chinese effectively, come down Chinese culture and cultivate Chinese successor filled with confidence and pride.So far, the investigators of Singapore and China have studied Chinese language teaching in elementary and secondary school thoroughly and macroscopically. But as a whole, most focus on education theory and general education problems, less on curriculum standards, teaching materials and methods; most on elementary school and less on secondary school; What's most important, much less on Chinese language teaching in universities. And study from this aspect is almost blank.Frontier teachers and investigators in China have studied concretely the Chinese language teaching after curriculum reform in high school. In 2003, Curriculum Standards in Senior Chinese has been published. Since 2004, high school students in China have begun to use the new teaching material according to this standard. Singapore has issued Standard Chinese language and Chinese Language and Culture in Preparatory School to clearly regulate and make suggestion on Chinese language teaching from every aspect. Whereas, few made comparative analysis thoroughly and systematically on Chinese language teaching in preparatory school and high school after curriculum reform.By using literature research, antithesis and so on, this thesis comparatively analyzed Chinese language teaching in preparatory school and high school after curriculum reform from Curriculum Standards, teaching materials of modern literature and promotion on professional teachers in a panoramic and small but complete perspective. Through this study, the position of Chinese language teaching in Singapore has been ascertained; places to be ameliorated has been found in Chinese language education and outputting Chinese language teaching resources to Singapore. The blank in this field will be filled and the lagging of comparative analysis on Chinese language teaching between China and foreign countries in northern universities will be improved.
