Fengshenyanyi is a supernatural evil-spirit novel which was composed in Ming Dynasty. It is the production of combining folk creation and literati's processing and it had been having a significant impact on the development of novel of that day for a very long period of time from the birth of it.In this paper, I adopt the paper text Fengshenyanyi which was compiled by Xu Zhonglin and published by People's Literature Publishing House in 1973, meanwhile being assisted by corpus retrieval system of Center of Chinese Linguistics PKU as the corpus basic to investigate the various forms and features of locative prepositions in this book.Chinese is the typical analytical language, prepositions become the necessary external signs of syn(?)actic and semantic compositions in sentences. Because locative prepositions have a unique value in the system of Chinese grammar, it has always been taken seriously in Chinese grammar. In recent years, many scholars have done a lot of research of locative prepositions and yielded substantial results. But, generally speaking, the texts of the Ming and Qing times did not earn enough respect. Especially, the texts of Fengshenyanyi were involved even less.In this paper, with the basic of referencing the results of predecessors' research and the integrated use of comparative analysis and statistical methods, I strived to make an objective description and scientific explanation of the locative prepositions and the relevant sentence patterns involved in this novel. So we focused on the the classification and distribution of the locative prepositions, the comparative study of contemporaneous but different texts, the locations and the restraining factors of the locative prepositional phrases, and several other aspects. We attempt to prove that the corpus value of the text of Fengshenyanyi is not curtailed for the reason that it is a historical novel or for the part of half literary and half vernacular in its language and also has research value on the history of the Chinese language.
