" The Lulu Zhengyi" is a musical encyclopedia on the temperament of musicology. Kangxi Fifty-two years (1713), the emperor of Qing Dynasty ordered to compile it and it was completed the following year. It belongs to the music part of the Complete Works of Chinese Classics", which was authorized in Qing Dynasty. "The Lulu Zhengyi-Sequel" is the fifth volume of "The Lulu Zhengyi". The book deals with western music theory. It is the earliest as the Chinese edition systematically introducing the European music theory in modern Chinese history. What's more, it has absorbed the new achievements of Western Music Eastward Spread and enriched the compilation of the Chinese music Encyclopedia. In modern times, it has a strong historical value for those who try to study Western music theory.However, based on the information I've collected, the rsearch on "The Lulu Zhengyi-Sequel" is rather limited. Besides,there are few studies about it.If any,they haven't been fully discussed. Therefore, this thesis centers on this subject. Several research methods are used, such as document analysis and collation, induction and deduction, statistical method, giving examples and so on. This thesis tries to discuss it from many aspects, like its compilation, characteristics, research on its main part, the relationship with, " Essence of Tone-system " and the impact on Chinese music.In this paper, the "The Lulu Zhengyi-Sequel" is placed in the historical and cultural background of the early Qing Dynasty and the modern music culture, trying to show the special position about western music in Chinese music culture in this period. This thesis develops a furthur study to supplement "The Lulu Zhengyi-Sequel".
