The Research On Brahms' Art Songs Style And Singing

Brahms, one of German most famous composers in the 19th century, had been known as the "last one" of German and Austrian classical composer. He composed a lot of worldly good music, in which the richest ones were art songs. His creative style and artistic achievements had a profound impact on the history of later ages and enjoyed a high status in the history of Europe and international music.Brahms, living in a romantic era, rooted his art in folk, country, local people, nature and society. On composing music, he combined romanticism and classicism, melted art songs into folk music, blended life philosophical harmony with inner feelings. On creative thinking, subject choosing and means of expression, he seeked to introduce new ideas, forming his own unique creative thinking and artistic style, making a profound impact on the later generations. The plot of his music was ingeniously conceived and billiantly shinning in each other on various aspects of genre, content, form and performance methods.According to the relative shortcomings with the research of Brahms' art songs in our domestic scholar feild, my research in Part One is mainly on his art songs'cultural connotation, from the theme choice, subject expression, philosophy idea and creative background. The purpose is to let the singers know and be familiar with Brahms'Art Songs subject source, background, intentions and emotions. Part Two is mainly on his artistic style, from the style causes and performance. The purpose is to let the singers master the music style, grasp the essence and accurately express their feelings, reproduction mood, shape the image. The third part is the study of Brahms singing practice, mainly from his creative techniques, intrinsic relationship in understanding and corresponding principles in methods. This part is the end of the paper, and also the focus of the paper. It is intended to match the work of the melody, style, mood and emotional expression and image building.Although the research has some shortcomings because of insufficient materials and reference limitations, it still will be not without benefits for carrying on excellent achivements, enlightening singing practice, developing art songs in our country.
