The paper has selected the term of"YiXiang/image"which has university values to carry out the analysis and integration on the Chinese and Western poetics. In order to discuss the theory, while trying to perfect the theoretical system of Chinese and western comparative poetics, the paper puts its emphasis on the exploring the Chinese literary theories with modernity features and its development road.The paper not only admits the specialties of Chinese and western image theories, but also seeks for the integration of them. Essentially speaking, the Chinese and western comparative poetics has its researches aims to solve problems by seeking common points while reserving difference. Therefore, instead of pursuing the absolute and mechanical equivalence of terms, the paper make discussions in accordance with the original appearance of Chinese and western image theories, with an aim to seek common points while reserving difference. On the one hand, the paper tries to find a macro integrating point by investigating specialties; on the other hand, the paper probes into the detailed means by which both parties reach an integrating point.The paper is supposed to carry out the analysis and integration on Chinese and western image theories from three aspects, respectively, the origin of philosophy, the development of poetics and self-transcendence.Started with the three aspects of the approach to The Good, the integration of human and nature and the construction of survival concept, the paper makes discriminations on the Chinese and western objects based on the seeking the common features and the differences from the philosophical level. From the philosophical object to the image of aesthetic appreciation, Chinese and western image theories develop along with different orderliness. Chinese traditional image theories follow the law of nature and achieve the boundless explorations from the limit life. The western image theory is based on an intrinsic theology and it embodies the creative enthusiasm like God the creator. Western theory seeks for the maximum approach of empirical individual to the transcendental identity by the constant enlarging of subjectivity.Although there are distinct differences between Chinese and western"image"theories, there's possibility for both of them to earn from each other's strong points to offset its weakness. To Chinese poetics which focuses on the intuition inspiration and lacks the term defining, western discourse, which excels by its meticulousness and speculation, is a good learning material. Meanwhile, compared with the Chinese implicit expression and the integration of subjectivity and objectivity which are results of Chinese poetic thinking pattern and discourse mode, western image theory falls short in this respect because of its binary opposition and the split of experience and transcendence. Therefore, after thorough analysis on the discourse predicaments faced by both parties, the paper has demonstrated the detailed effort made to realize the self-transcendence in the level of"integration"in the domain of Chinese and western image theories. Based on the traditional western learning, English and American imagism poetics sought materials from Chinese classical poems and created a new trend in the modern western poetic circles.The"west learns from east"suggests that, traditional Chinese poetics has first realized its influence in the foreign countries. Moreover, the theoretical courage and the scholars'mentality exhibited by the imagism are good learning models for the construction of Chinese modern poetics. Benedetto Croce's intuitionism-based imagism theories are the crystallization of thorough self-examination on the western poetics. His contributions to theoretical exploration which is made to maintain the unity of images have something similar with the construction of ideal appreciation models of images in Chinese poetics to some extent. Traditional Chinese image theories have evolved from the"the image of aesthetic appreciation"to the"Artistic Conception", which creates the ideal and perfect mode of"conditional images".The paper makes practices on the analysis and the discourse of Chinese and western image theories. On the one hand, the paper tries to restore the original speech mode of traditional Chinese literary theories and do best to avoid the disturbance from the inertia of western thinking pattern in the modern Chinese literary theory and research. The paper aims to embody the equal discourse between Chinese and western poetics. On the other hand, during the comparisons in aspects of heterogeneity and commensurability of Chinese and western poetics, the paper tries to make sure the modern Chinese literary theories'construction has its location approach and seeks for new opportunities for Chinese literary theory with Chinese characteristics.
