Glazed pottery is unique varieties in ceramics of Liao Dynasty and has various types and colors. It was slightly general and insufficiency in study glazed pottery of Liao Dynasty before. Plenty of archaeological data will set a basis for us to make forther research the glazed pottery of Liao Dynasty which is full of national feature. This paper makes the research on distinct characteristics and geographical distribution of glazed pottery based on glaze color.The paper is divided into three parts. The first part simply introduces the discovery and study about glazed pottery of Liao Dynasty.The second part mainly analyses the types of is the type of glazed pottery of Liao Dynasty. According to the glaze color, there are three categories: monochromes in green, yellow and white, two glaze in white and green or yellow and green and sancai glazed pottery. The analyses of type and emblazonry have helped to have a good grasp of the evolution process of glazed pottery.The third part is staging partition. Firstly, the author believes that the glazed pottery of Liao Dynasty can be roughly divided into two phases. In the period of mid- 10th century—mid-11th century, the green glazed pottery was more than the yellow glazed ones and there are various types. In the period of late 11th century—early 12th century, the number of green glazed pottery had declined and the yellow glazed pottery had increased. The advent of Sancai glazed pottery was a prominent feature of the glazed pottery of Liao dynasties. Secondly, according to the distribution of kiln sites, the glazed pottery of Liao Dynasty can be roughly divided into five areas. These areas are Songshan and the surrounding regions centered around the Gangwa kiln, northern Chifeng, western Liaoning, Beijing area centered around the Longquan kiln and northern Hebei. The last part is a summary, which sums up the paper.
