"The Historic Centre of Macao"has now been inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2005. The "Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta Plan " (2008-2020) in 2008, and this year's " Twelfth Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China (2011-2015) " have declared Macao's position as "the world's tourism and leisure center ". At the same time, with "Guangdong-Macao Cooperation Framework Agreement" signed in March this year has brought Macao with new development opportunities. This makes Macao, a place with the blend of Chinese and Western cultures for four hundred years, attach importance to its own history and culture up to national and local sustainable economic development level.Faced with these opportunities and challenges, to explore the development of diversified industries and cultural heritage of Macao became a common topic for Macao and the surrounding areas of cooperation. By now, related researches are few, and policy implementation is at the initial stage. To this end, the paper targets at the most precious cultural and tourism resource of Macao-- "The Historic Centre of Macao", to study its planning and usage, hope to fill this research gap and provide some feasible suggestions.The introduction part of the article is about the background, purpose, meaning, object, content, status for the research of the world heritage of Macao and other basic elements.Chapter I describes Macao's urban position and its development conditions, including the city's background, position, analysis of both opportunities and challenges Macao is facing, and define what should be made out of Macau and the value of this research.Chapter II describes the current situation of the object of study "The Historic Centre of Macao ", including the introduction of the buildings, streets, and squares, their geographical distribution, reason for selection, and the elements that meet the accreditation standards for the World Heritage.Chapter III, on the basis of the second chapter, details the present situation of all the buildings of "The Historic Centre of Macao", points out the problems and shortcomings, introduces the concept of open-air museum to make recommendations and makes some suggestions to improve the current situation.
