Learning motivation is one of the most important affective factors in Chinese leaning. And reading motivation as a part of the learning motivation, which has a great effect on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL). Motivation is a dynamic psychological process, and has a certain relation to the learners'internal and external factors. Therefore, it is of theoretical and practical significance to make a multi-perspective research on the reading motivation of the learners in TCSL.On the basis of the relevant research of the motivation teaching both at home and abroad and the research findings in the field of TCSL,this study is a comprehensive survey and analysis of the reading motivation of foreign Chinese learners within the frame work of Psycholinguistics, education, second language acquisition, etc.. The objects of study are the foreign Chinese learners which from Tsinghua University and Linyi Normal University. The tool is the self-made questionnaire. The ultimate goal of this study is to find the characteristics in reading motivation of the foreign Chinese learners and the affection of motivation variable for TCSL, and make practical suggestions on Chinese Reading teaching.The thesis is composed of five chapters: The first chapter introduces academic values and applicative meanings. While working as a teacher for Teaching Practice, the present writer finding the students from different reveals its own characteristic. Therefore, the present writer decided to make exploration for the affection of reading teaching from the perspective of motivation. Classifications and the research angles of the individual factors from the scholars are also introduced in the literature review of this part. The second chapter is the theoretical part of the motivation. It is introduced the definition of the motivation, lead up to learning motivation, and explained the effect and the classification further. As a kind of the learning motivation, the reading motivation has its own characters. Next, it is introduced the definition of reading, the similarities and dissimilarities between Native and Second Language Reading, the composition of the reading motivation and the relation on reading motivation and the second language teaching. In the third chapter,in according with the definition, the present writer to divide the motivation for three kind of variable: psychology variable, environment variable and education variable, and to make detailed description for specific factors which are in every variable. The forth chapter is the part of investigation and analysis of the thesis. In this part, it is to make descriptive analysis in according with the date from the questionnaire, and use the example to introduce the effect on the motivation variable that is in reading activity. In the fifth chapter, in view of the Investigation and analysis, the present writer put forward the practical strategies about the reading teaching. The sixth chapter is the conclusion part. In this part, the present writer makes a conclusion for the achievements of the thesis, sees some shortcomings, and proposes into the imagination further studied to the thesis.
