Motivation is one of the important factors that affect second language learningand it also has important impacts on foreign students when they study Chinese.Recently with the economic and political policies of Yunnan, China which is underthe bridgehead strategy, territorial Chinese teaching as a second language becomesmore and more important.This research studies different learning stages of motivation, that is,will there beany changes between Chinese learning stage and specialized course learning stage?What are the changes? and why?140Vietnamese students which are under the modeof “2+2” of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics were tasted in theresearch.Based on the findings, recommendations are made for teachers to enhancestudents’ motivation.The results of this research indicate that all variables of girls are stronger thanboys’ except factors that cause motivation changes; The main learning motivation ofstudents in Chinese learning stage is instrumental motivation and is affected bylearning content and teachers while the main learning motivation of students inspecialized course learning stage is integrative motivation and is affected by teachingmaterial and learning content.
