T test, one-way anova and correlation are used to address the research questions. The results of the study indicate that girls' motivation strength is stronger than boys', and the older group's is stronger than the younger ones'. Compared with instrument motivation orientation, integrative moti--vation orientation is more important. Integrative motivation orientation correlates significantly with the variation tendency of motivation as well as motivation strength. Among the factors that led to the change of motivation, instrumental motivational subsystem and teacher-specific motivational components are most influential. Instructor immediacy is correlated with the variation tendency of motivation. Based upon the findings, recommendations are made for teachers to enhance students' motivation.
