In the initial stage of New China, the popularization and dissemination of People's Daily on Marxism and the results of Marxism's sinicization had promoted the process of popularization of Marxism. Reviewing the facts of this period of history, an essential element of studying popularization of Marxism is to attempt to appropriately evaluate it and summarize the historical revelation, and this way also has important practical referenced value to continue to promote the process of the sinicization and popularization of Marxism.The initial stage of New China, the urgent need put forward to strengthen propaganda and education of Marxism theory because of the complex situation facing the national economic recovery and the arduous task of transformation during the period of socialist. Meanwhile, there are some reasons that provide conditions and guarantee for the propaganda and popularity of Marxism, including the Chinese Communist Party became the ruling party, a large number of Marxist classics were translated and published, the sinicization of Marxism theory was enriched and developed, and intellectuals, the cadres and the masses all need for theoretical study, etc. In this historical background, the People's Daily carried out the propaganda and education of Marxism, with the Party's central task at the core. In the economic recovery period, People's Daily which focused on history of social development, carried out the education with the basic point of view of Marxism-Leninism. It also published "Political Economics Course Introduction" to propel the propaganda of Marxist economic theory, and focused on "On Practice" and "On Contradiction" to propagandize the philosophy of Mao Zedong. In the period of socialist transformation, People's Daily catered to the needs of socialist transformation, focusing on universal access and promotion of socialist transition theory, socialist industrialization and socialist transformation theory. At the same time, on the ideological and cultural field, the People's Daily also carried out criticism of non-Marxist point of view, in order to eliminate the impact of non-Marxist and to establish a correct view of Marxism.People's Daily played an important historical role in promoting the popularization of Marxism in initial stage of New China, embodied in:People's Daily became an important channel and position in Marxist propaganda and education, promoted the majority of Party members and cadres to further grasp Marxist, and played a guiding role in thought reform of intellectuals. However, due to historical conditions, People's Daily still had certain limitation in propagandizing and popularizing Marxism. For instance, propaganda form was still using the single model in war; Dogmatism existed in the learning working experience in the Soviet press; And the criticism on ideological and cultural existed one-sidedness, etc.We can get some important enlightenment by investigating the progress and the features of Marxist popularity promoted by People's Daily in initial stage of New China. Namely:we must insist on being consistent with the needs of social development, combining with the social practice and vital interests of the masses.In conclusion, based on the relevant historical documents, this paper studied and analyzed the background, historical process and feature, and effect and limitations of Marxist popularity promoted by People's Daily in initial stage of New China. I hope we can get historical enlightenment from how Chinese Communist Party use the media to propagandize Marxist popularity in early days, so as to provide historical reference of promoting the contemporary Chinese Marxist popularity.
