Migration Literature refers to a large group of people who attain a high level of literary in Northeast China in early Qing Dynasty. They have made great contribution to the development and spread of the literature in that part. Fang Gongqian is a representative figure who has come through many hardships in his life. He recorded down his daily life in Ningguta in his poems which is also a vivid reflection of the moods of the intellectuals at that time. Fang Gongqian's poems play an important role both in early poetry history of Qing Dynasty and the literary history of northeast.This thesis devotes to the research of the life of Fang Gongqian and his poems. This thesis tries to provide an overview of Banished poets'literary in early Qing Dynasty as well as the social life in northeast China by analyzing Fang Gongqian's life, his poems and his inner context. By doing this, this thesis also hopes more research work could be devoted to the related analysis.Paper is divided into introduction, body and conclusion parts.Introduction elaborates to the significance of the topic, current research, and research ideas.The first chapter gives a brief introduction to Fang's background information to provide a sound foundation for the analysis in the following part. He was born in a big family, and became an extraordinary intelligent teenager there. When he was young he became a scholar, and then an official in both Ming and Qing dynasty. Because of a serious affair, he was be taken to Ningguta, but at last he came back south in his old age.The second chapter analyzes Fang's poems created in his exile which are greatly influenced by the hard environment at that time. His poems describe what he found and feel in his hard times, and have various themes, rich contents, and distinct characteristics, with strong artistic appeal.The third chapter compares Fang's works with that of other authors'. He worked hard in his hard time, developed education, and described his feeling there. This could give a clear judgment of his historical role and influence in Migration Literature.Conclusion is a summary of Fang Gongqian and his Poetry.
